Course Description

Learn how to perform a safe self-rescue from an elevated work platform and how to rescue an incapacitated operator using EWP retrieval systems. This course covers both escape and rescue skills for ESI workers operating at height.

This course is suitable for ESI workers, contractors and emergency response personnel who work on towers or support tower work and may be required to perform a tower rescue.

This course gives you the skills to respond safely when something goes wrong on an elevated work platform. You will learn how to conduct a self-rescue using controlled descent equipment, complete pre-use checks, follow safe descent procedures, and apply workplace protocols aligned to ESI requirements.

This course is suited to ESI workers and contractors who operate, work from, supervise, or support EWP tasks and need self-rescue capability or may be required to perform an EWP rescue.

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Age: 18 years old
Prerequisites: No formal prerequisites. Workplace authorisation, EWP familiarisation, and site requirements may apply. Where UETDRMP016 is applied, participants should hold or be completing HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or complete it in conjunction with this course where approved.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy: All learners complete an LLN assessment. Support is available where needed.
PPE and Equipment: Appropriate PPE is required where relevant. A device with internet access is needed if online learning is included.
Workplace or Site Access: Participants must be physically able to complete practical activities relevant to both units. Reasonable adjustments are available where appropriate.
