Course Description

This unit focuses on rescuing an incapacitated operator from a raised EWP, including how to inspect and use EWP retrieval systems, assess hazards, apply risk controls, and carry out a safe rescue. Together, these two units give you a complete set of EWP emergency response skills covering both self-rescue and team rescue situations.

This course gives you the skills to respond safely when something goes wrong on an elevated work platform. You will learn how to conduct a self-rescue using controlled descent equipment, complete pre-use checks, follow safe descent procedures, and apply workplace protocols aligned to ESI requirements.

This course is suited to ESI workers and contractors who operate, work from, supervise, or support EWP tasks and need self-rescue capability or may be required to perform an EWP rescue.
